Course Syllabus

Session 1

Science Questions & CARS Passage Strategy

In part two, we go over some of the most common science questions asked on the MCAT, and the best way to approach these types of questions.

In part 2, we break down the CARS section of the exam: timing, question types, and resources. We tackle a couple of sample passages, and figure out how to approach passages in general.

Homework: Physics Content Review

Session 2

Psych/Soc Overview & Physics Practice Questions

We first introduce Psych/Soc section strategies, and we discuss some of the resources needed to do well on this section.

In part two, we go through some physics practice questions, understanding how to connect content knowledge with MCAT questions in general.

Homework: Gen Chem Content Review

Optional: Physics Practice Questions

Session 3

CARS Question Strategy & Gen Chem Practice

In the first session, we explore how to tackle CARS questions themselves: what to look for in the passage, and how to think like the test-makers.

In part two, we go through some practice gen chem questions, understanding how to connect content knowledge with the passage as a whole.

Homework: Orgo Chem Content Review

Optional: Practice Physics Questions

Session 4

Psych Soc Passage Approach & Biochemistry Intro

We discuss some of the highest-yield psych/soc concepts on the MCAT, and do some practice questions.

Then we introduce the Bio/Biochem section of the test, and go over the most important biochemistry concepts: amino acids and proteins

Homework: Practice Chem Questions

Session 5

Enzymes & Metabolism

In this session, we go over all there is to know about enzymes: function, regulation, and kinetics.
In part two, we tackle metabolism and its various mechanisms.

Session 6

CARS Review & DNA/RNA

We do some final CARS review review, focusing especially on the most advanced and ambiguous questions in this section.

In part 2, we tackle all aspects of DNA and genetics: structure, replication, and transcription/translation, as well as mitosis and meiosis.

Session 7

Cell Biology & Free Review Day

In part 1, we discuss the elements and features of cells that the MCAT likes to focus on.

Part two of this session will either be additional CARS strategy/review, or psych/soc review, depending on what students would prefer.

Session 8

Physiology Review

This session is dedicated to reviewing all the different physiological systems—cardio, respiratory, muscle, endocrine etc—and what the MCAT wants you to know about each of them.

Session 9

Full-Length Walk-Through: Chem/Phys

We walk through an entire full-length exam together as I share my reasoning process, starting with the Chem/Phys section. Afterwards, we debrief and discuss the exam and its content.

Session 10

Full-Length Walk-Through: CARS

We continue our walk through an entire full-length exam together as I share my reasoning process, with the CARS section. Afterwards, we debrief and discuss the exam and its content.

Session 11

Full Length Walk-Through: Bio/Biochem

We continue our walk through an entire full-length exam together as I share my reasoning process, with the Bio/Biochem section. Afterwards, we debrief and discuss the exam and its content.

Session 12

Full-Length Walk-Through: Psych/Soc

We finish our walk through an entire full-length exam together as I share my reasoning process, with the Psych/Soc section. Afterwards, we debrief and discuss the exam and its content.
